Looking to Him.

Life’s been tough. Physically, emotionally, spiritually – I feel exhausted. Looking toward the future there is so much unknown. Still, so much uncertainty.

Maybe you can relate. You get through one difficulty and another challenge gets thrown at you. You feel like you’re finally getting into a routine and then something disrupts that, yet again. Sometimes nothing seems too sure anymore.

Yet, He is.

I’m so thankful for this truth.

Because God’s faithfulness is based on Himself alone.

If things don’t go exactly how I think they should, it doesn’t mean that He is less faithful. If the storms don’t seem to clear up for a long while, it doesn’t mean He’s absent. If more difficulties come, it doesn’t mean He isn’t good to me.

Because God’s faithfulness isn’t based on me or my circumstances. God’s faithfulness is based on Him and Him alone. This is good news! Because my circumstances and feelings change so often, but God’s character never changes.

The same God who created the earth – creates in us a new heart.

The same God who rescued Noah and His family – rescues us today.

The same God who directed Jonah’s path – guides us today.

The same God who provided for Moses in the desert – provides for us today.

The same God who ushered the Israelites into the promised land – prepares us for the new promised land.

The same God who was patient with His people even when they rebelled Him – offers us new mercies every day.

The same God who chose to send His precious Son in weakness – chooses our weaknesses to glorify Him.

The same God who walked this earth – walks it with us every moment of every day.

The same God who loved us so much He sent His only Son to die – loves us unconditionally.

He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

And nothing we do, nothing that happens to us, nothing that seems to “go wrong” can change this truth.

He is faithful.

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations. Deuteronomy 7:9

Your faithfulness endures to all generations;  you have established the earth, and it stands fast. Psalm 119:90

If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. 2 Timothy 2:13

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

Therefore, let’s pause. Let’s remember what He has done. Let’s take our eyes off of our ever changing circumstances and look to Him – the ever faithful One – whose never stopping, never ending, always, forever love for us cannot be stopped by anything.

Remembering His Faithfulness,

Bethany Joy
